Another GPS antenna
I normally prefer not to purchase Microsoft products, since there are many other good products out there, and cheaper too.Anyway, this time, I bought the Microsoft Street + Trips 2005 with GPS antenna. I paid $99 for it at Costco. The software is a road mapping and driving direction software, and it works ok, nothing special. The GPS antenna is a small hockey puck like thing and connects to a USB port, and it also works with any marine charting software that will recognize and work with a USB GPS.The only downside of a PC based configuration is salt water, unless you keep it down in the cabin, and not in the cockpit. Of course, if you have the whole thing in the cabin, then the hockey puck GPS antenna won't be able to see the sky.So if you want a GPS antenna, you can pay a few bucks more and get a street mapping software along with it. By the way, I can never see buying a car with an integrated street mapping GPS. I never get lost driving at my home town. I only get lost when out of town, and usually driving a rental car. That's why I bought it in the 1st place.
