Might consider powder coating it. Check with your local auto body shops and see if they have a preferred place to get that done. I'd think it would be tougher and last longer than paint. The prettier your boat and accessories the more likely you get robbed. That is My response for an untidy boat, and I believe it.

Woody, thank you for the tip on going in with a steel fabricator with my 25# CQR anchor. Including my anchor in a larger lot of items to be galvanized by the steel fabricator is not a bad idea. I have all winter to see if I can find somebody. Meanwhile, if anyone knows of a group in the Northeast (I'm in Bristol, RI) that might do this, please let me know. Also, perhaps if there were about 5-10 other anchors needing regalvanizing, we might be able to do it for a "group" or bulk rate. I prefer spending about $100 or less to get it done and not the $300-500 minimums being quoted by the local galvanizing shops.

Interesting stuff on the Powder Coating. I hadn't thought of that at all. Has anyone had experience with "PC'ing" an anchor for use in saltwater? I don't think it is a wear issue...but more a corrosive action. The PC idea just might work.
