I'm a new owner of an '87 with a 25hp Univeral. What diameter of flax packing do I need?

I just did mine for the first time last week, in the water. It was a little scary when the water started coming in but it was quite a bit less than my bilge pump capacity. I used 3/16" Teflon packing. use 3 rings with the ends offset by 1/3 of a turn from each other. Hayden Watson'88 C30Papillon

Prop Shaft is 1"

The prop shaft for the 1987 C-30 is 1", not 3/4". Therefore, you will need to purchase about 10" of stuffing in order to make the three rings as suggested by the previous poster.Steve

Still confused about flax diameter...

I'm still confused...the diameter of the shaft is 1" for sure, just still not sure about the diameter of the flax itself. Is it 3/16, 7/8, or a buddy of mine says 3/8. Donna, I called Catalina, left a Voice Mail, but have not heard back. Will try again. Thanks all for the input!
