Looking into purchasing a 1987 P36. There was some discoloration around a couple of ports. Has anyone had problems and/or solutions to this issue?
Thanks,
Ed

Check out sailing seadragon via google. That guy replaced leaky ports on his P36, and gives a nice overview of his progress throughout.

Ed,

You don't say if this is discoloration of the outside gel coat, inside wood trim, port frames or port lens and if it is at the fixed port or opening port. It would also be helpful to know if the ports are Lewmar or Beckson on that boat. Both were used at times by Pearson on the P36-2. Anything that has to do with the port frame and lens is fixable by shops like Select Plastics. Discoloration of the wood is covered in any number of books about refinishing teak and gelcoat stains are fixable by many cleaners on the market.

All ports will leak at some point in time, and all are fixable.

When I purchased mine four of the beckson ports were leaking. Wife took them out cleaned out old sealant and rebed. Stopped all leaks so far.
