Lynn and I have had a great season too. It is our first year to be out on the water all season. I often go out and spend the first night by myself, sailing and tinkering with the boat, then lynn will show up the next day. I can't blame her for not wanting to be stuck with me in the boat for too long! I am happy to say that we get along well with each other, and with the boat and have a lot of fun.
I have found that My Girl sails well and points pretty good. She has gotten me out of a jam once or twice with her ability to go very shallow (aka get off a mud bar) with the centerboard up. Also she does well in very light air with the large light nylon gennie (sp?) set.
Last friday was a beautiful day; clear and gusty. I spent most of the afternoon alone getting my butt kicked around by gusts and limited seamanship. I had reefed the main and switched to my smallest foresail but still just couldn't get her to point well. I am not sure what i was doing wrong but I am looking forward to another day like that so I can try again. Lynn joined me that night and as the winds abated we had some beautiful clear blue skies and light airs. The next morning was as bright and clear as i have seen in years, so i got up on deck in my sleeping bag and watched one of the prettiest sunrises I have seen from the shores of our little lake. It was a shame to have to pack up and go home but I had chores to do at the house and then head to work. (that horrible four letter word)
All in all a great season. I have sure enjoyed all the beautiful pics and fun posts on this site.
cheers!
