Figureheads

I agree that boats should carry figureheads on their bows for good luck. In fact I think this should be a mandatory item enforced by the U.S. Coast Guard. No one should be able to get a registration or documentation without one.I will start carving mine immediately for a spring installation. Does anyone have a suggestion for a model?dave

It's all in the way you think.

She's got great lines and when I look at her, I get excited. When I'm away from her, I miss her and want to be with her. Only she could give mne such highes ( a long tack with warm sun and breezes, blue skies, light seas and only the sound of an occassional sea bird)and such lows (a flying halyard or a smack inthe side of my head by a loose boom). And when things really go wrong on a sail, it's "her" fault. Like last fall when she set me aground in a foot of water with the tide going out. Only a woman could treat a man in such a way. As I recall I referred to her as my &$##&&&$#@$ boat but I was thinking of her as more than just an inantimate object. Besides she cost me as much as any woman ever has. Haydenb

named after a man, like the Charles W. Morgan, or the Joseph Conrad? Would folks get the wrong idea if someone said, "Wow, that Winston Churchill, she sure is a beauty?" Just a whimsical thought. Actually, I think it's one of those questions that, if you have to ask it in the first place, you probably won't understand whatever the answer is.
