Coming back to the dock after sailing has been a pain this year. The wind has invariably been blowing straight at the dock. My boat doesent sail well at all under jib alone and the main wont swing far enough to spill the air before I'm past the dock [not much room]. As you can imagine I'm coming in pretty hot. I don't carry an outboad moter. Today I tried something different, I tied a 5 gallen bucket to a piece of line and then to a stern clete. I filled the bucket with water and when it was time to slow down I dumped it off the stern, it really worked to slow me down. I guess depending on the wind I'll either have a one or two bucket day.
