While changing the oil on my Catalina 27, some old oil from the drain pan ended up on the cockpit fiberglass seat rough surface. I tried cleaning it with a rag, mild soap and deluted bleach. No luck. Some people have told me they had the same problem, and it was impossible to remove the stains. Surely there must be a way. Any ideas? Thanks for this and all the previous help on other topics.

Try this

Try some buffing compound. I use a PPG product that is available places that sell to professional body shops. It is PPG DRX-16 and goes for about $8 for a pint can. I use it to remove black stains on my external fiberglass and it does a great job without hurting the gelcoat. I've used it to take the black exhaust stains off the transom. No hard rubbing required. Never tried it on used oil stains in the cockpit though. Worth a shot.

You might try this too!

You might try Starbrite's Black Streak Remover. I've used it to remove black oil stains in the bilge. The stuff really works.
