Three questions re. My 25XP engine. a. I am replacing the oil pan and the bolts that attach it to the engine block are sold at $1.95/unit. That price came from two different parts dealers. They are not brass or stainless. I can't figure out why they are so expensive. Mt strong tendency is to replace them with stainless. They attach a steel pan to an aluminum block. b. Does anyone have a good source for 25XP engine parts? I'm working a third dealer I got from this web site. c. When I attach the new oil pan should I use one of those gasket sealers to install the gasket? All comments/help appreciated.

Alternate part sources

1. I wouldn't bother with stainless bolts, but you should be able to get plain steel, cad plated, or black oxide finish at a good hardware store for less than $2. each. I woul dput loctite blue on them to hold them in place, and prevent galvanic corrosion. 2. Try Pamlico Diesel. I haven't purchased anything from them yet, but I spoke with someone there, adn they seem like fine folks. They service marine diesels and promise good prices on parts. see link:
