I have a 90 C-30 with a Universal M-20 18hp engine. The engine has a tube or hose with a brass fitting from the bottom of the oil pan. Is this a factory installed item to drain the oil or aftermarket? Also does anyone know what type of oil extractor system is used with this tubing. Unfortunately I have not been able to speak with the previous owner as he now resides out of the country. Any info will be appreciated David

New C36 similar.

Our new C36 is similarly equipped. It came with a hand pump similar to West Marine 109850 which is a Jabsco 34060-0010. The intake hose is clamped to the tube and the oil pumped into a suitable container. It looks like the hose would drain into a pan, but the hole is so small it would take all day without the pummp.

When you take the bolt fitting out of the rubber hose, you get a nipple from a plumbing store and rig it up to fit any type of oil extracter unit, hand pump, vacuum pump, etc, Good luck

For Oil Extraction...

Try an Oil Boy - you might be able to get them on this website - if not, West Marine should have them. They cost about 45 bucks on sale. They are excellent vacuum units - requiring only 6 pump strokes to remove 4 quarts of oil. Also, you can use them for many other purposes, such as easily changing the transmission oil on your car, or getting the bilge in your boat completely dry. Best of Luck - Rob
