Let's see......
Jerry:Let see, you buy me a cheap plane ticket to Chicago from Reno ($270), Oil ($6), Filter ($10), Vacuum Pump ($40), case of good beer $25) Total ($351).I'll show you how to do it yourself. Next year you will have to only spend $16 for the oil and filter. Now you are about $283 ahead of the deal.WOW, that is a lot of money of an oil change. I really hope they are doing a complete engine service including fuel filters, belts etc.Actully the Big Boy Topside is a decent vacuum pump. It has the hoses to run down your dipstick hole. You may also want to get a special filter wrench. These have a strap that will wrap around the filter and make removing it much easier.Get yourself an OEM oil filter and a filter wrench. You need to start the engine and run it in gear at the dock for 10-15 minutes to get the oil warmed up. If the oil is NOT warm the suction pumps have a very difficult time sucking it out of the pan. Remove and replace the oil filter, suck the oil out of the pan refill with clean oil, check for leaks and you are ready to go. Similar process for the transmission. Be sure to use the corrrect oil in the trannie and the engine and you will be an happy sailor. With the money left over for a very nice dinner at your favorite restaurant. If you have any reservations, purchase a manual on the engine that has these steps outlined. Also don't be afraid to ask someone in the marina for help. Good luck
