...paintball gun. So others get some visual warningWe should be allowed to carry cannons to fire at the boat to avoid a collision!!!!
Okay, how about in the SBO Chandlery???We should be allowed to carry cannons to fire at the boat to avoid a collision!!!!
Yes, very true. But the concern expressed above is that people will go totally off watch and not keep a lookout for other boats. That's just as true when you set waypoints and let the boat steer to them. The good (?) thing is that Darwin's rule will operate here..
John, the problem is that when you set your waypoints, you'd normally see the side hazards as you do that.. here, an operator could blindly accept the route without understanding the hazards that might be close by.. I have played with the auto-routing stuff, but I don't even have my autopilot slaved to the GPS..
Sorry, but the same story was making the rounds some 20 or so years back about a tourist out here in California. This reminds me of an incident that happened here in Nevada about 40 years ago. A man bought a new Winnebago motor home and was driving it down from St. George Utah. He put the vehicle on cruise control got out of the drivers seat and went back to make a sandwich. The thing ended up in the desert and luckily he wasn't killed. When asked about why he did it he explained he thought it was an automatic pilot. Could have been a candidate for Darwin Award.I swear it actually happened!!
