Peggy, your advice to switch from K.O. to Odorlos in the holding thank was right on the money. We got rid of most odors after switching to fresh water flushing, but still had bad vent odor immediately after flushing. We started using the Odorlos in the tank instead of the K.O., since you indicated that Catalinas generally have insufficient oxygen intake to the tank. We just came back from a 9 day trip and had absolutely no problem with flushing odor. Thanks a lot, you made our sailing much more enjoyable!!

KO to Odorless

Do I need to wait until I empty the tank and flush it out or can I make this switch directly - ie will the effectiveness of the Odorless be affected by the KO? From what I've read in Peggy's emails - I won't think this would be a problem but I've been wrong many times in the past. Bill

KO & Ordorloss can work together

I believe KO contains the "aerobic bugs" that eat & break down the waste in your holding tank. Ordorloss adds the other ingredient that is missing if your tank is not well ventilated - oxygen, which is needed for those critters to do their job. So actually you are doing no harm using both.

Thanks! I hope so....

because I really don't want to make another trip to the pump-out and the smell from the vent is not pleasent!! I slightly enlarged the vent holes in the stanchion hoping that helps some. Thanks, Bill
