O'Day23 swing keel cable

The line to the swing keel/centerboard on my O'Day 23 parted company. I've lifted the boat clear of the water and noted the "hole" in the centerboard near a notch. However getting under the boat will be tricky as well as getting someone on the boat (to feed the new line thought) as it sits on the lift. I would like to know the proper configuration of the cable/rope??? as it attaches through the "board". The cockpit end of the lifting rope is just that - a small diameter piece of line (like a small sheet). I suspect if I just re-ran the line and tied a stopper knot through the board the board might not full retract into its housing. A swaged cable loop through the hole? (seems mighty complicated for something that "should" have a simple solution.) Advice? TIA. Al

Hi All,Before I put my, new to me, '80 O23 in the water this year, I replaced the center board pendant(cable). I had ordered the part from Rudy at O'Day. Instead of the cable and rope setup, he sent a shackle, which fits on either side of the CB. Then a stainless screw w/ a lock washer attached it through the hole. Make sure the shackle and screw just fit around the CB. There is not much extra room inside the keel. You nee to have someone pass the line down through the hole to draw the rope up. I just had to pull my boat out because they are dropping the level of the lake quite a bit. I removed the CB to repair some gouges, etc. in the leading edge. I will let it dry out over the winter. I will be writing for suggestions to repair it towards the Spring.David
