Hello All! Removed teak handrails from cabin top of my 22. Plastic caps on inner roof of cabin came out in fragments. Does anybody have an idea as to where to find replacements? Are the teak plugs in the handrail of the one half inch variety? Once again-in over my head. Thank you for any help at all! Best regards, Conway Deitrick

plastic plugs
Just replaced my plastic cap last week. Local hardware store had white cap/plugs. Popped in the new caps and it looks great. Did notice, a few days later, that the Lowes had the same plugs, Home Depot did not have them.

Hi Conway; I recently purchased a set of new hand rails at a garage sale for $1.00. Cannot go wrong with that! I looked at removing the old ones, but on of the bolts is covered up by my bulkhead, one on either side of the cabin. I do not want to take the bulkhead out, that would be a very major job that I don't think is neccessary. How did you solve this problem? I was just going to cut the teak and bolt just above the cabin top, then grind the bolt down flush with the top. More then likely, it would just fall between the liner and the outside mold. I was going to fill the hole with epoxy and would leave that leg of the hand rail un-attached. It has eight bolts to hold it, it is more then adequete for the job. How did you solve this problem, or did you! Your help is appreciated. If you have not found the plastic caps, I have some extra ones, I can send them to you. Paul

Hi Paul! All I can say about your recent "purchase" is- Do they have another set? Seriously-you are going through the EXACT same thought processes I just went through! Relax, there is NO screw in the rail foot that is above your bulkheads. Kid you not-none, nada, zip. Good luck on it! By the way, you don't need to remove the teak plugs and go after the screws underneath, either-just pop out the plastic plugs on the inner cabin overhead and use a socket to remove the nut/washer combo. The exception is the total absence of any securing device on the rail foot above your bulkheads.
