Obsolete portlights

I purchased a 1980 Catalina30 with one of the portlights missing and replaced with a makeshift piece of plexiglas. I understand from Catalina Direct that the original portlights are no longer available as the manufacturer is out of business. Has anyone out there had to replace any or all the windows? If so, what were your findings? Any leads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike Baker

Opening Portlights

I replaced the head portlight and the one opposite on my 80 model with Bomar model 2414 opening portlights. The hole is 6.25 x 15.5", and these fit and seal well. Price was not too bad from a discount company. And the increased ventilation from opening a starboard window is great. I know it does not help with the remaining windows, but you requested any information on any of the windows. Link to Bomar is attached.

Thanks for info re. portlights

ED, Thank you kindly for your response. Opening portlights seem like an attractive option and will definitely look into it. If the Bomars are similar in appearance to the rest of the portlights, it is a step in the right direction and may save me some of the headache. The main problem arises because the remaining portlights are not rectangular and would have to be custom made. The alternative is to find rectangular ones which will fit and look right. Regards, Mike
