Oberdorfer N202M-15 or -16?

On Catalina Direct, they list the Oberdorfer N202M-16 for a Universal M25XP, yet on other sites I see the N202M-15 listed.

What is the difference between a -15 and -16 pump? Would either model work on a Universal M25XP?

Thanks for those links Capta - golden! A boater can't have too many pump options!

Posted this in the other thread...

Now I see there is an Oberdorfer N202M-908...which happens to be the one the marina mech said is for a Universal M25XP. When he told me that, I said that Catalina Direct lists the -16 pump for this engine.

What am I missing here? Is there a nice, no grinding, no modifying, drop-in fit Oberdorfer to replace the Sherwood pump on a M25XP? Does it matter if it's an M-25XPA or -25XPB? The engine I'm looking at is a -25XPA.

Yes, it DOES matter.

If you have an M25XP (no A or B), then it's a straight swap. If you have an XPB then the C310 link is for you, minor mods required. I do not know anything about an XPA. Nor do we in the C34 community, since we don't have those engines on our boats.

You can find out the differences between the engines at Toad.

Thanks Stu. Yes, I think the engine in question for me is a M25XPA.

I looked at that link to the C310 thread in your post above. That's where I saw that the -908 does indeed exist....which is the part number the marina mech told me - and this is a heckuva coincidence - and is the mech that is at the marina where KZW keeps his C310. Small world...

FYI for future search; From the Toad website:
M25XPA Model Engine
Produced from: March, 1993 to August, 1996
About the M25XPA series: This engine uses the same parts as the M25XP but is wired like the M25XPB.

So, it looks to me that whatever physical accessory fits an M25XP, it should also directly fit the M25XPA. Of course, to be sure, a call to Toad to confirm would be prudent.

As I understand it, -15 or -16 designates inlet/outlet size. I think it is 3/8 or 1/2 inch. Bigger is not always better. Depends on what size fittings and hoses you have now and do you want to change them. At one time, N202 pumps had a paper gasket. The NP202 had the O ring seal. Depco quit selling the paper gasket model and dropped the P, so now the N202 has the O ring. I hated the paper gasket. The XPB engine is a totally different engine than any other variant of the M-25. A cruel joke IMHO.

Ok, finally took a couple of pics of the Sherwood pump on my -25XPA. I'm hoping the -16 pump will bolt right up without cutting/hacking/grinding.

Am I correct?
