Hauled my '77 C27 yesterday and the keel sways a bit. There are no cracks in the fiberglass and all else seems OK. Can anyone tell me if this is normal?

Swaying keel? Are you serious?

I hope you didn't buy a used lemon. I have a '78 C27 and have never heard of a swaying keel. This sounds like you may have a serious structural problem. I recommend calling Catalina Yachts tech. department (Phone 818 884-7700). I would sand/grind away the paint and any fiberglass around the keel/hull joint to make sure that paint and fiberglass is not all that's supporting your keel.

sounds like a roted keel stub

There is wood in your keel that the keel bolts run thru an the wood rots from the in side out it is a real job to cut the glass remove the wood and reglass the bilge I did mine last weekend and it took about 20hr with 2 men next weekend I will paint the bilge and bolt it down .If your keel is swaying it must be leeking.you will have to re bead the keel with 4200 or 5200 after you reglass the inside.Ive seen guys grind out a 6" groove around the keel and glass it on. you can fix it take your time talk to nora at catalina yachts shes a sweet hart.Tony helped me with the glass work he is the rep from mas epoxy .The mas epoxy is nice to work with closed in the bilge .It not as smelly as the west sys.
