Completely new upholstery for Oday 28
My project Oday 28 came without any upholstery. We made patterns of all the cushions we would need using contractor paper purchased at Lowe's. Found a Fabric & Foam place who advised me further on how to measure at spots where the foam contacts the hull for the correct angles, then they furnished me with good quality firm foam, and total price for the foam including their cutting to my specs was $647. Found the fabric we wanted, needed 18 yards to cover tops and sides. Cost was $14.95 a yard. Needed additional 7 yards of a vinylized "open weave" cloth for the bottoms at $10 per yard. The upholsterer has done boats, cars, furniture and has been in the business for 35 years, was highly recommended, is charging $400 for the labor. Total cost just under $1,500 including everything. Total of 10 pieces, V berths (2), insert between v berths (1), settee berths (2), Backrests above settee berths (2), small cushions mounted on each side of bulkhead in salon (2) and quarter berth (1)My rehab job on the boat has turned out just beautiful. Wanted the upholstery to go with the good job so spent more for this item than we had expected when we started out.
