Don't know how many of you realize it, but that's the second time this week that Phil has had to ask people to play nice. And, Dan, I thought your 'arbitrary' posting was funny!

In my defense, Dan,

I think if you will read again my response to your use of the word "arbitrary" to describe the derivation of phrf ratings, you will find it was written not in the mood of being "riled up" but rather to clarify the issue. My Webster states one meaning of the word as "fixed or arrived at through will or caprice, decisive but unreasoned" - this is the meaning I inferred from your application, especially given the accompanying colorful description. Certainly there is no offense taken - I think the original question was a good one.

Dan, anything but a Phillips Screwdriver

- - that's milk-of-magnesia and vodka. Don't worry about my becoming obnoxious - I know my limit. Trouble is, I usually pass out before I reach it. By the way, try some phrf racing. I used to race motorcycles, and have sponsored some dirt track car efforts, but this is by far the most bang for the buck. It has the additional advantage of forcing you to improve your sailing skills much faster, too. Wish I had started 40 years ago.

I have to pass on the racing. when I started sailing 23yrs ago I raced beach cats. now that Im old,fat, and lazy I will just enjoy cruise'n I always tell everyone and I mean it sincerely, Im never in a hurry to get anywhere once I step on my boat cause the minute I step aboard, I AM THERE!
