noisy M 3-20 engine

Anybody have any success in reducing the engine noise in a Catalina 28 with an M 3-20 diesel with about 950 hours on it. Nothing mechanically wrong .I'ts running very well. I'm thinking some kind of sound insulation on my engine cover or foam cushion where the engine cover comes into contact with fiberglass hull. Suggestions?

Get a service manual and adjust the valves. This will cut the noise significantly if you have not done this already.

I put several layers of insulation on the inside of my engine cover. Just be careful the insulation does not hit pulleys/belts/etc.
