I searched for this subject in the archives, but didn't come up with much. I have a Nissan 5-horse 2 stroke on my capri 22. It's been running 2 seasons here in the brackish Patuxent, and is due for a new water pump impeller. I bought a replacement, along with another gasket, as well as a service manual so that I have a reasonable hope of doing this job properly. But, given that I have never done work on an outboard beyond winterizing it, I'd like to ask all of you if you've done similar work yourself, and if there are any pitfalls for me to look out for that the service manual may not tell me. I'm generally pretty handy with tools, but have done very little engine work.
