Hello All! I've been reading this site's information for about two years now and you would be amazed at the amount of information a new boater can accumulate. It took me a while to figure out that I wanted a Catalina 30, and finding this site has been a huge help to me. Yesterday was my first day of ownership of "Almost There"! It was a long time coming that's for sure, but I really felt like all the information that is shared on this site is such an important resource. I hired a captain for a day to walk me through everthing very thoroughly, and he was impressed with all the little details that I had picked up from this forum. (By the way, if you're a newbie, it's money well spent in my opinion). Over the last few years there are now posts from people that I always read because I really have come to appriciate their knowlege, there are posts I read because they are new owners starting out, just like me, and there are posts I read because sometimes you just wonder "what's this guy gonna say this time?!" So thank you everyone, whether you know it or not you all helped a newbie and I look forward to returning something to these discussions. But enough of that, I gotta go sailing! Dan Metzler Catalina 30 "Almost There" 1985 TRBS #4328, Kemah TX (I've waited a long time to be able to write that!)

Where's her new home?

What marina are you keeping her in? I think that boat used to be on my pier.

It's Worth The Wait!!

Dan, Congratulations!! I definitely remember the feeling of being a new boat owner. Much like you , we waited for several years before we took the plunge. My wife still thinks it the best investment we'ver ever made. We have really enjoyed our boat the during last three years and continue to look forward to sailing every chance we get. Have fun!! The Cheap Seats...

David, New to town and to sailing, so I went for the new customer only deal at Watergate, can't beat the price! And my buddy has the boat next door so we kinda keep an eye on things. By the way, my first sail (without a hired captain) was today! I would have sworn it was blowing at least 40kts, but the wx radio claimed only 14kts! Definatly enough for this beginner!
