Just picked up this neglected 23. It's been sitting for some time for sure. Water line inside looks like it was two feet. Almost all of the wood needs to be replaced. I figured it would be a good winter project. Attached are some pictures. I'm in the middle of cleaning it and will post updated pictures in a few days.

Interior cabin sole. At this moment the plywood underneath the cushions, the braces fiber glassed to hull holding up said plywood. I'll get some pics of the damage tomorrow.

Good luck, I’ll be following you. I have a H23 myself.

The exterior isn't too bad. Just oxidized gel coat and spider cracks. Nothing too major, just time consuming. Majority of my time has been spent cleaning and getting all the water out. So far I've replaced the drain hoses, pretty sure they were original. I've slowly been taking off the wood on the exterior, sanding, and applying teak oil. Here are a few more pics of the damage. I appreciate the interest, and will defiantly be looking for some advice. This is my first boat and need all the help I can get.

I had to remake the companionway boards. What came with the boat was real bad.

Some redone Teak.

Any issue with using 3m 4000uv for sealing the deck teak boards? Or is there a preferred method.

How are the sails? Outboard? Rigging? How much have you budgeted to get her seaworthy?

Justin_NSA the sails from what I can tell look to be in good shape. Main halyard will need to be replaced. The motor runs and will be serviced next spring as part of the purchase. I'm leaning towards $2000 total. That includes the interior and trailer as well. I firmly believe I could sail her today as is.

Sounds reasonable. Have fun with your new boat!

Quick update on the 23. Weather in Idaho has not been cooperating with the project at all. I was able to get a 3 day window with temps in the 60's and took advantage of it. I've been wanting to get the gel-coat waxed prior to winter. It is very oxidized and chalky. So I wet sanded a test area, compounded, then waxed. Results were favorable so I went with it. I was able to complete the transom and port side. If you have never done this, let me tell ya. It's exhausting.

This is the starboard side, no reflection, no shine. Just chalk.

I was also able to get the windows semi scratch free and looking good.

This coming week we'll complete the starboard side wet sand and work on the deck area.
isaksp00 I have looked at the chain plate bulkheads and they look solid. Surprisingly.

If bad, water incursion comes in through the deck slot and seeps into end grain at top edge. If you have not you may want to remove the 3 bolts that hold the metal to the wood, take out the chain plate and see if the now unclamped wood bulkhead is sound. Mine cracked under load while sailing.

FYI I used butyl rubber under the chain plate covers when I resealed. It is gooey but does not glue the cover down.

I use to use comet on the hull, washed off, compounded with Finnes It sometimes twice, used a good cleaner wax and then a good pure wax that has inhibitors to sunlight as a dealer.

@Crazy Dave Condon I used comet on the topside when trying to get stains off the deck, does it act like a fine abrasive like 2000 grit? And any recommendations for the non-skid? I'm looking at trying to compound the deck areas as well this week. I've seen people advertise a bristle attachment for a drill.

Just use Bar Keepers Friend and a non abrasive blue scotch bright. It is oxcylic acid. Sold in many "Marine" cleaners For alot more. Be sure to wax as it will strip all.

So I was browsing the forum and came across a post that explained how the cabin floor was warped due to the boat settling on the trailer. I can't find the post anymore or I would link it for sure. It ended without explaining what the individual did to rectify the situation as well. So it got me thinking about my boat. I knew the cabin floor was higher in the middle than the sides. I just chalked this up to the age of the boat. But, before I went on a quick vacation I took a few photos of the outside of my boat. Sure nuff the middle bunk is depressing into the hull. So a few questions.
1. How to correctly set the height on the bunks?
2. Will the fiberglass resettle back into original shape in the cabin floor?
I'll get a few picks tomorrow of the interior, I'm currently at work.
