I need to replace the sun bleached stripes on my H 34, I bought from Hunter the last time, any one know of a source? This is the stripe at the rail, not the waterline! Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure you can get them on the hunterowners.com site. Click on the "Store" tab at the top of the screen.

Or else find a local shop that does vinyl signs. They may be able to reproduce the stripes for you.

I'm not sure how far back this policy goes, but dealers had the option to change the striping on boats they ordered. As a result it's all over the map and there's not much consistency in either size or color. If you want the same striping replaced note the color and put a tape measure against it to check width. We stock the striping Hunter used and most of the logo decals but we can't tell you how it was applied to your boat.

A hair dryer and a putty knife have worked very well for me in the past.

There are more theories on this topic than on motor oil. :) Click the search tab in nav bar and try searching "remove name" or "remove decal."

I had good luck getting a boat name removed with Easy Off oven cleaner and a scraper, but there are folks here who know a lot more than I do. The trick is patience; go slow and easy.

I have not had much luck with a hair dryer/heat gun.

If you have a wall paper remover/steamer this work good. Also there is a device called an eraser that work on a drill that is okay too.

If you decide to use a putty knife be careful not to damage the gelcoat.

Remove

I used a hair dryer and plastic putty knife and my was easy but only 2007 sailboat,
the hard part is putting new strip on with being nice and even and not
wavey looking.
I used a pencil to mark a line to follow.

Here

I got my new perfect matching strip here from Phil and the striping has a clear coating that must be removed and before removing I went a pencil along the old strip to help put the new one back on and look straight and  some boats look pretty bad with waving stripes.

I removed the original striping from my '84 H31 last summer. I used a heat gun and my thumbnails, then solvent to remove residual adhesive. It took 27 hours to do the job.

I started the stripe removal, I used an electric heat gun, a 3 inch putty knife, and a pair of leather work gloves. I got about 25 feet of stripes off in 3 hours.

While washing my H 34 down prior to winter storage I was pressure washing under the rub rail to remove spiders and accidentially hit the blue stripe, it immediately was removed in the small area. My washer is a small electric unit but seems capable of removing a stripe a lot easier than other approaches. Worth a shot if you have access to a pressure washer.
