Hi all
Just purchased a 1983 San Juan 28 up in Campbell River 6 days ago, and very excited about getting it fully equipped, found many interesting pieces on your web site.
We just had it lifted as the packing was leaking and found the shaft not aligned perfectly. Long story short, this has necessitated us in getting ready to install a new shaft, coupling as well as a PSS drip less system. The shaft will be slightly longer as the old one had very little room between hull and propeller.
The Yanmar 2YM15 engine was installed back in 2006, found the receipt but they obviously did not do things diligently with shaft and engine alignment, we can see a slight deviation and it took a lot of work to remove all the old shaft/ parts and rudder.
My question is, the propeller is a 14RH10 pitch 2 blade propeller, is this the correct size based on your knowledge? I could only run the rpm up to 2000 on the short trip to the yard.
If you or someone you know who may have an idea, this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your assistance on this question.
