Interesting.. My buddy (his other boat is a Cherubini Hunter 33) noticed a badly neglected 27’ Stiletto catamaran a couple of blocks from his house.. He ended up buying it for less than $2500 so he and I are getting the thing sorted out and assembled. It is quite a project to set up on the trailer prior to sailing; my guess is about two-three hours for two guys.. maybe less after some practice. Boat is in pretty good shape but the starboard “canopy” has been gone for some time and the interior of that hull is water damaged.. We are thinking of using the remaining canopy as a form to make a glass lay-up new one if we can’t find a used one somewhere.. Interior is pretty simple and there is enough left of the old wood to use as patterns .. Came with 5 useful sails and a Yamaha high thrust, electric start 9.9 four stroke.. Should be a fun boat to sail .. Yesterday while trying to get the electric starter to work, we noticed the hot electric smell and found a melted spot in the wire connecting to the engine.. A small nick (1/8”) in the cover had let salt water inside and corroded the copper to a brittle red/black material that was apparently not much good as a conductor.. Splicing that today.. another reason to not use an outboard.. We may get the mast up today.. Haven’t found any cracks in the standing rigging swedges and all the wire and rod looks good.. I think he got a deal..
Factory will still make parts ..
Anyone have any used parts for this thing?? Anyone have info to share?

Blaming the outboard for a simple wiring fault is pointless. The same or worse could have easily occurred with an in-board diesel.

Using one canopy as the mold for the other is probably a good idea.

Be aware that these things are basically overgrown beach cats with minimal accommodations, and that the boat is extremely overpowered, so reefing the boat in a timely fashion is key.

I would recommend re-furbishing the boat before sailing it. The interior and canopy form an integral part of the structure and sailing it with those damaged is probably a bad idea.

I have seen many parts for sale for all types of cats so might be good place to look.
I loved my Hobie 18 years back it was so much fun to sail and so fast, that 27 you have must really fly.

I appreciate the comments, Dog.. I had found the sites.. good stuff.. I learned to sail on catamarans, like Tornado and Cougar Class boats.. Lots of fun to sail fast like that ..
We got the little 9.9 Yamaha four stroke running yesterday.. Really smooth and quiet .. She fired within 3 seconds after 7 years of not running (inside storage).. Water pump is not working well, so that is coming apart today, probably for a new impeller . got the hulls vacuumed out yesterday too. Lots of tannin stains in the starboard hull where about 3 bushels of wet oak leaves had accumulated because of the missing cockpit canopy.. Ohhhh the horror of the fuzzy carpet !
