Wanted to let you know that we made a change in the image code and now, photos will be automatically re-sized to a reasonable width and height when uploaded. Also, a thumbnail image will be generated, which will appear in the post. Here's an example.

Now I'm worrying

Now I'm starting to get a complex. Yesterday, I had posted a couple of pictures when the big bang happened and they weren't there any more. Now I posted another one and the feature doesn't seem to be working. How you going to keep 'em down on the farm now that they've seen gay paris?

Peter

if you have any kind of popup or banner supression turned on that can sometimes mess up the display of photos with long numbers for names.

Love the thumbnails

Phil, the upgrade to embed a thumbnail photo in the body of the email is a tremendous addition. You as well as the rest of the technical staff should be congratulated on this. I have looked at other sites (honest, it was only for a few minutes) and they do not compare with the HOW. A tribute to you and your staff. Keep up with the great work. We all really appreciate your commitment to this site. Rich

Still doesn't work

I haven't tried posting one yet. I just can't see anyone else's. So far as I can tell, I have not only turned off blockers but have also listed this site as exempt. My browser is Firefox.

Trying a photo

Will it work? Edited after the submit, looks as though it works. Are you others remembering the image size? It still must meet the requirements of under 80k or whatever that size is??? Jim S/V Java

Working here from home

To upload, you click the "I have a photo" box - after you've typed your message and hit "Submit" you use the browse dialog box to locate the file you want to upload from your hard drive. The thing I like most about this feature Phil implemeted is that you don't have to resize your photos. My digital photos are typically large (4 megapixel), so I now don't have to manually resize before uploading. It takes a little longer to upload so it can be resized automatically, but it's nice to pick any photo I happen to want to post without messing with it. Thanks Phil! Trevor

Peter Brennen your photo worked.

Nice 'chute. I'm trying one too. We took this last summer when we were anchored in front of Chatterbox Falls at Princess Louisa Inlet, Desolation Sound. Actually the inlet is close, but not part of the Sound.

Fred - GREAT Photo!

That's a really great photo! Not only that, but who needs air conditioning? The falls probably provide a nice cooling effect. So often there is a raft of powerboaters at the base of the falls so obviously you were there on a good day. Just showed you picture to my wife and she was impressed. We just decided that we need to make an effort to get some 'good' boat pictures of our boat too. Also, I noticed that you're actually flying the American flag! Seems so many US boaters like to go into Canada incognito for some reason. Anyway - that's a great picture!

Lady Lillie

Here is Lady Lillie with the Admiral in the Presque Isle State Park anchorage in Erie, PA. This is our favorite anchorage on the Lake. Phil, I agree with the others, what a great feature! David

John, thank you!

Now let me tell you how the picture was taken. This is on day 'two'. The first day we tried to drop the hook in the waterfall out-wash, like we used to do in the '80s. (this was our first trip back since we went to the tropics) Anyway, the current kept swinging us over and in front of, RAFTED POWER BOATS! We gave up and anchored to the west of the falls that night. Then we went over to the power boaters and apologized for making them think we might anchor on top of their rodes. We explained that we would never do that and that it was the current that swung us over their hooks. (they seemed genuinely impressed that we would make the effort to apologize) Anyway (again) the next morning the power boaters left and we took their spot. If we didn't have the new windlass and chain on a single anchor, we wouldn't have gone to all the trouble. But we did want that photo. The ones we took in the 'old days' are lost so we had to get a new 'magazine cover' picture. Thanks again John.
