We took the Hunter out on the lake today. Our goal was to raise the Mast set the Boom up and have lunch on the water. She is larger to pull compared to our Mac25. Stopping at the commercial weigh scale we were 1430 Kg on the single axle trailer. Stepping the Mast, we learned a lot, in a very short period of time. Thankfully there are two of us; a spotted tangled line was causing grief. Once the line was relocated we were able to push the Mast down and pin it. Now I know, hook the forward Halyard to the lifting/lowering pole but keep the sheets long, take the slack up in the Halyard. It goes quite smooth lifting the Mast and lowering. Single handed no problem (now). Second time will be much smoother, knowing to keep the Forestay on the proper track LOL. Once up and set, we've never had a Boom Vang. We motored out for a bit in our perfect conditions for sailing. We shut the engine off enjoyed lunch, talked about the boat, turned back into the wind, sideways waves not too bad. Centre board up no sails. Compliments on docking lol, beginners luck. Loaded her on the trailer like old pros: unstepped the Mast effortlessly and headed out. We called it a huge success. Hoping for another time out with larger goals in mind. The photos below are of Kalamalka Lake Vernon BC Canada. This is my back yard. Beautiful time of the year.
