Line organizers for single handing
Lines for jib and main halyards as well as a downhaul for the jib, topping lift and reefing lines can all be routed back to the cockpit via blocks and kept cleated off and organized with a device I've seen referred to as a rope clutch (I think). Probably more common on larger boats rigged for single handing. Not sure where I'd put one on our H23's. The cabin top in front of the slider isn't very stout and not much easier to reach than just stepping up to the mast. The space just outside of the slider on either side is not very wide. On my boat, PO rigged some turning blocks near the base of the mast and winches on either side of the cabin top near the companionway to help with single handing, but no line organizer. So, I do have access to my lines either at the mast or in the cockpit, but I'll confess, it often looks like spaghetti either way.If I want to take advantage of my marinas services, I'll need to get hauled in the next week to 10 days. It has put me in a serious funk and might explain why I've posted so much in the last several days. (in addition to the reality of wretched weather for most of 3 weeks now)
