Have you checked the Error Advisory codes?

The following advisory codes can be used to determine possible system errors or to identify specific operational modes. Note that E codes are cumulative and will be held in memory until cleared. Codes can be cleared by entering dSP and letting it save. Display settings DO NOT need to be changed. See basic programming for more info.
E40 BATTERY VOLTAGE TOO HIGH. OVER 16 VOLTS
E41 FIELD VOLTAGE TOO HIGH.
E42 STATOR VOLTAGE TOO HIGH.

What did you do about programing the unit?

Go back through and check the settings on the 614. They are a PITA to program. It would have very easy to set the bulk charge voltage to the wrong voltage.

There is a good set of instructions on programming the 614 ( which also works for the soon to be discontinued ARS-5 and the MC-618) on MarineHowTo.com. Also, if you have a 12v DC source at home (a small lawn tractor battery works) it is much easier to sit in a comfortable chair and program the regulator.

The mc-614 is not user friendly. They should have a Bluetooth communication to an app so you don't have to program with a magnetic device and go through pages to set what you want. If Victron can do it with there solar controller why cant Balmar.

Balmar did with the MC-618 released a few months ago. It does require a Balmar shunt and a BT dongle. I added the 618, SmartGuage 200 and the dongle this spring, it is a great package all the information you need and programming on an app.
