Mark:

I am not sure about the available space to have a thicker mattress but we ended up replacing the foam on our Hunter Vision 36 with a latex mattress. Very comfortable and they last for 20-30 years. The cost is higher than foam but less than an inner spring.

Mark, there was just a long thread on this same subject about a week or so ago. You might want to do a search on it. If I recall you can search for memory foam!

For my H376 I bought the interior sprung mattress which is made for the H380. Both boats use the identical aft cabin berth moulding.
Very comfortable but heavy to lift to access the locker spaces beneath the mattress.
Also a struggle to get it below but brute force and ignorance won the day.

Sweet dreams!
Don.

We replaced ours with a better quality foam, thicker and much more comfortable. We had the foot of the mattress tapered to allow for better opening and access to the cabinets. worked out fine.

for my aft cabin on the hunter 40.5 I went with www.lovemymattress.com

its 6-7 inches thick with plent of springs and very comfy

it was also extremely well priced and an awkward shape which they nailed perfectly!

About 2 years ago I replaced my aft cabin 2 piece 4" factory foam mattress on my H356 with a queen size 8" inner spring in a box from wal-mart. Its like sleeping on a cloud. No more bottoming out. It came rolled up and vacum packed. Layed it in place, then cut the strapping. Stood back and watched it grow to full size. I have a couple of the long sides of motorcycle style cargo webbing straps ran under it. The webbing is long enough to reach accross and run through rubber coated hooks where I just roll and cinch it back using a couple of rolling hitches to hold it back. To get access under mattress. Make sure to watch the video.

No problem :)

I've uploaded the image that I used with them.

If anyone wants to know the exact price I will be back on the boat in around 9 days and can look through my receipts (hopefully I still have it somewhere). I will also snap some pictures of the mattress itself in situ.

I do tend to have a bit of a crappy memory though so feel free to bump this thread or pm me in 9 - 10 days!

Kind Regards

Guy
