I would like to change out the interior lights on my boat. Can anyone recommend a good quality lamp that is reasonably priced? Or even a good quality lamp that I can get cheap on ebay? Tim R.

Best prices I found recently on lights was at

Defender, their price on the ABI Mahogany & brass cabin lights was half what the local WM store wanted.

LED lights

Look at Menards. I have seen LED cabinet light sets that come if three different colors. I think the colors are white, red, and blue or green. The lights come with AC converters. Eliminate the AC converter and you have 12 volt LED cabinet lights that will use less electrical drain than your std 12 volt bulbs.

Go for new LED bulbs

Changed out all the light bulds on my boat to LED's. Batteries charge stays up all night. One of the best low cost upgrade I made last year.

Tim did you find a new boat??

In a previous post you mentioned going south to look at a boat. What are you buying or have you decided that new lights will tide you over for another year..?? I'm constantly improving my boat to prevent buying yet another one!

Still looking

I went and looked at a 1989 Olson 34. It is a very fast racer/cruiser with a phrf of 99 and a tiller to boot. No go. Project boat. I would consider it if it were closer. It had leaking keel bolts, water damage on the interior with water stains 4 inches above the sole, and many gelcoat repairs on the port topsides. Structurally it seemed fine although I would need to have it surveyed. Not ready to shell out that cash on a boat that is really my second choice. Maybe if it were pristine. Anyone, still looking for a late model Ericson 34 if you know of one. Either way, I am always looking to do upgrades on my Pearson 28. It is in like new condition and we enjoy sailing her very much. We just feel we need a little more speed and creature comforts. I know you are in Maine. Where do you keep your girl? I am at Centerboard Yacht Club in South Portland. If you are local, you should come racing on wednesday nights in the summer. Just watch out for Franklin;-) Here is a link to my photo website. Tim R.

Tim I like the cabinets..

do you make cabinets for a living? I'm getting ready to re-do my kitchen and don't like the off the shelf stuff I see. E-mail me at halekai36@hotmail.com and we can discuss cabinets?? I keep my boat part time in Falmouth and during early spring, late fall & storms I move it to my mooring in Broad Cove in Cumberland. As for racing I'm mostly retired from that unless it's on OPB (other peoples boats) I raced so much growing up I got burned out (Lasers, Rhodes 19's & J24's). So when we ordered this boat I went RF main and genoa just to make sure we would only use her for pleasure...

I have seen that one

She is nice but for the same money I can avoid getting 2 foot itis as soon. I plan on the E34 being my last boat(riiiiight). I have been spending the last year researching and evaluating boats so I would know exactly what I want. Tim R.
