Hi, Bought a '79 Catalina 27 footer, and it needs some work. #1 The electrical control board (what is this called?) needs to be replaced. This is the equipment in the cockpit where the starter button is located. Is there a place to buy this or do I need to get it specially made? If so, any suggestions? Thanks. #2 The rigging is sort of a mess. Where can I go (preferrably in Maryland) to have someone correct the rigging with the latest in furling and spreaders? What would this cost? Thanks for your help.

Catalina 27 questions

Johnny-- Replacement engine instrument panels can be gotten from Seaward Products. They supply a lot of equipment to Catalina. A good rigger or boat yard can probably help you with your rigging. If you are anywhere Annapolis, you should have lots of options--ask around locally for advice. One of the nice things about Catalina is that they are still in business, and can supply parts, or technical recommendations. If you need replacement masts, sails, rigging, cabin cushions, or other items, you can often get them right from the factory. They are in Woodland Hills, CA--check the internet for the phone number. You can also get parts from other sources--Catalina Direct sells a lot of items (again, check the net). You can also go with other suppliers, such as local chandleries or sailmakers. Randy
