I have two water tanks on my Catalina 30. One under the V berth and another under the starboard setee. The vent hoses had one way check valves that would not release the pressure on the tanks which caused them to fill very slowly and swell as well. I took the check-valves off the hoses which solved the filling problem except now water will run up and out the end of the vent hose into the boat. My waste holding tank on the port side is vented through a stancion. But not the others. I think I should vent them thru hull or deck has anyone encountered the same problem ....if so what is the answer?

Mine vents through the stanchion

On my '88 C30 the two vents are connected with a tee and are vented to the stanchion just aft of the water deck fills.

Vented to Bilge

On our '81 C30 the tanks are vented to the bilge. I found this out when filling the tanks for the first time and realizing the bilge pumps were running. Admittedly this isn't an optimal solution, although since it's "clean" water it's not so bad so long as it's pumped out right away to reduce the chances of rot forming in the wooden support block under the compression post. I think this was the factory venting solution in those years so you may find hoses already in place. Mike Turner S/V Amity

Water vent

My water tanks vent throw my anchor locker. I dont no if the hoses are hooked up in line or if they vent into the open locker. I never seen avent hole but when I fill my tanks water comes out my ancor locker hole

Vent

Ilooked at my boat and my vent is in the top of my ancor locker. There is a round deck plate cut in to accesses this spot.
