The shift cable in my 81' C30 is about shot. The controls are on the Port cockpit floor next to the pedestal (it leads to a hurth tranny). I ordered a replacement from Catalina direct

Shift cable

Todd, I just replaced mine. The web site I ordered through was Go2marine.com. They are based out of Bainbridge Island. When I received the cable, it had been shipped from Fisheries Supply in Seattle. I originally ordered the wrong cable on line, so I would recommend talking to their parts man. I think his name is Mike. He is very knowledgeable and will make sure you get the correct part. Hope this helps. Sean S/V Carnaby Street

Try the West Marine catalog

I had to replace the shift cable on our Catalina 27. I took the old cable to the local West Marine. One of the guys measured it for length and thread, then found it in the catalog. They did not stock the item. It took less than 2 weeks to get it shipped to the store. You can also order direct from the catalog or on line. Morse cables are standard items, no need to have one made up.

Morse Shift Cable

Hi, I had a similar experience as Goef only I brought my old cable to my rigger to order the part and got overnight service.I added 2 to 3 feet to the original measurements in order to make sure it had clearance. I installed a Morse cable 2 years ago and had no problems whatsoever.I highly recommend it's quality.Seems like this is not an item to economize. Bob

ther real cable

i replaced mine last year from teleflex. Its a special order and isnt the same as any other shift cable. The cable also works the clutch and is much bigger than the throttle cable.i think it was in the 120 range with tax and shipping

Boat US

Aloha I have a 1974 Catalina and I had to change the shift cable. After calling ever one in town I called Boat US and they were able to get me a replacement. The model # on the cable was discontuned. good luck

Thanks all!

Glad I don't have to retrofit the other cable (I was dreading that). I'm off to the boat to get the cable model# and length. Since I live near seattle
