NE sailors, I'm concerned

Maine Sail and Tim R, Where exactly are you anchored and what special preperations are you making. I am lucky to be in Lombos Hole, Harpswell, which is marked as a hurricane harbor. Just going to clear the decks and tie down the main and of course, take the anchor off the front.

We're in Northeast Harbor on Mount Desert Island on a mooring. My friend Chris & Tim R. Are on the well protected docks and some other friends are on a float/dock over on the Asticou side. Lot's of panic up here but I suspect it won't be nearly as bad as the week of hype we've had. Early on I told a friend I did not believe we'd break 40 knots of wind and I still believe that. That being said I do feel over prepared but we're not about to let Irene ruin our cruise..

Three 1" mooring pendants all unequal length
Three layers of chafe protection on each

Maine did you see

The posts couple years ago by Franklin, who rode out Ike, anchored up around Galveston. He said the most important piece of gear he had, was a motorcycle helmet with a face shield, so he could get out and check stuff.

Eye just cleared Atlantic City making landfall in Little Egg Inlet as a Cat 1 with sustained winds of 75mph. just north of us. Good luck to all of you up there. I hope you guys weather it well.

We are getting back end winds now. About 30-40 sustained, decent gusts. High tide in about 1 hour and water is about 2ft from breaching bulkhead and 6-7ft from pilings so we should be ok.

So far no obvious losses in marina where there are about 400 boats still here.

Tornado in Longport, where BillyK is. Warning that was issued was set to expire at 2115 and was just reissued as I typed. Will be heading out to dock for hourly check, conditions permitting. T minus 4 hours.

The pic is from the NHC website. The black line is the current predicted track. It intersects slip H-42. My boat is currently in H-22. Should've stayed on C-Dock...would have missed us by a mile....well maybe 200 yards or so!!

Was it on the ground or in the air?

Not sure but it was quick and headed northwest. No one made a big deal about it so I assume it was a minor one.
