I decided to remove the navigation table to work on the electrical panel. Not as agile as I once was. Hard to work sideways for hours on the wiring. I decided to spruce up the table top while I had it in my garage.
I work in hardwood floors but our medallions and borders are 3/4 thick so I looked at marquetry in order to achieve the same results.

I selected a small Compass Rose medallion and a 1/2 border from Inlays.com. After making a pattern, I routed a 1/8 groove for the border and a space for the medallion. After gluing, I covered the top with several coats of varnish. Right now, it has a gloss finish but I may use satin on the last coat.
Now for the cockpit table:)

Wow, nice work Jose. What's the address? I'll get mine in the mail. Just more of that, "well the boat's just over there", right?

P.S. where are you exactly? On our trip south we went into the marina by the lighthouse on the ICW. Way back on the right by the marina office.

Lovely job. My navigation table looks like a pirate had at it. You inspire me.
