Well RW, that is where we part company.

The expression of ones religious beliefs is not what this site is about. I don't know where you went but it clearly wasn't here. The folks here do little else but try to help each other. My point by telling Tom to 'prove it' is that he can't. Why do you think it's called faith? And freedom of religion also means freedom FROM religion. Not here, please! And don't get me started on religious morality. You don't want to go there!

RW, I am new to this site and I thought your post was very good and in good taste as opposed to the rude replys of one individual!

Sorry guys

Post police here. Policies do not permit politics or religion in these forums (you will find that those rules do not apply at the CSBB or Trailer Sailor forums, but they do here). Please refrain from adding any further content of that kind to this thread. If we are unable to do that I'll have to bring out the digital pruning shears. Thanks!

Fred, this is exactly what I am talking about.

Fred, I am sorry that you do not have eternity to look forward to. This site is for open opinion and advice. Just because you don't believe it, doesn't make it wrong or invaluable advice. When you don't like something you start with the name calling. Tom's opinion is has as much right being here as your pagen beliefs. You haven't even noticed the loss or quality posts here in the last year. It is because you always have an opinion and you always think it is right. Sorry, Fred it is not happening. Fred, This site is for stating opinions and information. Yes, there are time you have to wade through opinions... It would be nice if all the info here were absolute fact. It is not. Unfortunately I think with the squabbling here we are losing quality advice from people that use to post here all the time. still looking for peace here, r.w.landau

Ah, Mister Rich, sir, I'm terribly sorry sir, but

I did say 'please' sir. I don't know what part of my post was rude sir. Could you please enlighten me, sir? P.S. Now I'm a pagan. Not even Archie Bunker said that. Hurts huh? :)

Fred, as offensive

as what my God is to you is as offensive to me, the belittling of my God in the previous posts.I sucked it up and listened. If religion is not to be discussed, this thread should have stopped when it was started. However,I would be against that. This tread is a fun thread. Tom, inserted his views on it and you were offended. Answer to your question: Fred, read your post to Tom. It was rude. Fred I am not asking for much here, I am asking for equal time and humanity. This Thread negated and insulted my God for how many posts. I accept that. Not everyone agrees on this. I disagree with the abrupt comments and one sided discussion. All Tom did was answer how he would change a name on a boat. And yes, I am still here atleast to see this one out. Still looking for peace here, r.w.landau

Oh, My Goodness...

It must be getting too close to springtime. We used Vigor's ceremony and the boat keeps getting better and better. Conclusions that mix hurricanes and boat namings or renamings is VERY interesting. I guess our eathquakes don't do as much boating damage as hurricanes, but I'm sure glad I don't have the challenge of having to decide to rename my house (or dog if I had one). Thanks for the humor folks, keep up the good work, it all settles out in the end. All the best, Stu PS I still don't understand why people write in and then say they're not going to read this board anymore. Why bother? (Rhetorical question...) It's like not liking something on radio or TV. Just turn it off. PPS and please notice that I am NOT upset that someone else has stolen my "check the archives" suggestion / rant / plea / recommendations, whatever. Way to go, Mike, you beat me to it :) But I do fully understand that there are new folks here all the time and some things do get repeated. What I'm beginning to learn is to just give them the link.

RW, now I agree with you. If you look back at

your rant against me, it all started with my expression of inpatients (how's that for putting it mildly) in your belief system. And that is all you were expressing, your belief system. It doesn't make you better but it may make you more pious. In any event, the Golden Rule is responsible for civilization as we know it today. And that is in spite of rel,,, Sorry Phil,,, your belief system. P.S. Your belief system is a choice. Whether that is intrinsically intelligent or not isn't a question for this web site. But because it is just that; a choice you make, when you try to spread the word to others you are fair game. A conscious choice about a belief system does not give you the same moral high ground as something you are born with and have no control over. If you want to spread your system around, you better have ear muffs. P.S.S And to prove what I nice guy I am, I didn't refer to your (B)elief (S)ystem as (BS)

Thanks Fred,

I am not sure I understand the end of your post but thanks! It sure would be good if we could temper our feelings at this site so that that more new people could speak freely. If we don't listen to their questions and answer with cordial understanding response, we don't get them back and then this will be a chat room for a limited number of people. This site benefits the new people the most. It has as long as I have been here. Fred, thanks again for going back with a different point of view. r.w.landau

Just Got it Fred.

That is still fine with me. I can't make you believe what I do, but you won't change my belief either. respectfully r.w.landau

I agree with Phil, this is NOT the place for this

And R.W. as much as a respect you and have always liked your posts (now that you mention it I realize I don't see you post as much anymore), I think you are way off base here. *box Its pretty simple, when you talk about boat rituals and superstitions, (not whistling when your sailing or whatever), then its just that -- something about SAILING and very unique to the history and traditions of our past time. A lot of things that are done on a boat over the centuries are superstitous and pagan rituals - its just the way it is. We all are just carrying on traditions (as silly as they might be) just like the correct way to fly a flag or a fly a burgee, which was a tradition set by some Yacht clubs in the mid 1800's. There is no scientific reason to do it, its just tradition and yeah its all in fun to carry on a tradition. But it was Tom M. (who I've also seen post good posts) that went beyond SAILING and traditions and superstions that are part of past time, by writing (and I quote) "I have to inject here that there IS a God out there, and it is his creation ....." Sorry Fellas but that is outright preaching and bringing organized religion to this board. I'm not saying I'm anti God or an athiest or anything, but if I want to get some of that I'll go to my local house of worship, I do not come to this board to get it and I'd rather it not be brought up, because then all its going to do is start into an argument (there is ALWAYS someone that won't agree with you, just like politics, etc) And as rude and intrusive Fred's post was (and can be) it wasn't any worse than the first one, and if the first one wasn't there, then Fred wouldn't have posted his. See the pattern here. The only valid rude and intrusive posts are the ones on how ugly your sailboat looks like ;) So if you want to discuss God and what we are here for go to www.sailboatownersforgod.com and keep the arguments on this board about the important things, like who's got the best boat, which is MINE !! ;D ps, Don't get me wrong, I like his ceremonial prayer and I like that he posted it on here as an alternative. BUT If Tom M didn't throw out that blantant preaching title (i.e. If you're serious, there IS a God) and skipped on his other rambling preachings (e.g. I will Christen (note the spelling) etc, etc....) And just talked about his particular ceremony (see below), and how it suited people less apt to a pagan ceremony and more towards todays traditional judeo/christian beliefs, then it would have gone over much better !! Trust me Actually its worth repeating again -- good christening ceremonial prayer (From the Navy Hymn) Eternal Father, strong to save, Whose arm hath bound the restless wave, Who biddest the mighty ocean deep Its own appointed limits keep; Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee, For those in peril on the sea! O Father, King of earth and sea, We dedicate this ship to Thee. In faith we send her on her way; In faith to Thee we humbly pray: O hear from heaven our sailor’s cry And watch and guard her from on high!

Fine

I keep going out in the garage evey couple of hours and check on them. I am going down this weekend to do some work on the ol Cabo Wabo. I think I am going to remove one port and do just one and get a feel for it. After this weekend I will be gone for a couple of weeks Breckenridge Co. Gotta get some skiing and snowmobiling in.
