odd effect...

After reading the whole thread I, like Ron perhaps, know little more about the subject. However, I did slap my forehead and proclaim "Jesus what are they thinking?".:) Glad you guys made up and are back to sailing. Brian

Oh my!

Wow ... make a quick post that I perceive as on topic and look what happens. I've really been in a quandry this morning about how or even if I should respond. I won't apologize. I didn't start the thread, God and prayer were already in the topic, so I thought my alternative was an acceptable post. I think I'll just leave it at that ... anything else would just start this up again. See you around. Tom Monroe Carlyle Lake

Well Fred, we all have our own opinions, but...

isn't part of religious freedom also having the right to express ones faith (regardless of what that may be) without fear of reprisal or taunting? I'll assume from your post that your either agnostic ar aetheist, and that's fine with me. Your beliefs are exactly that, YOURS. When one considers that about 98% of the people on this planet believe in God, The Great Spirit, or some other form of Creator or diety, it should come as no surprise that The One would occasionally come-up in general conversation. John Vigors re-naming proceedure invokes the powers of gods from Greek mythology, to which I am not an adherent, but Toms posting asked for grace from the God that I do believe in, in a format common to the Christian religion, so it was of great interest to me and I will be using it in the future. (Thank you, Tom) While I can certainly understand your wishing to not have to see expressions of religious faith due to your lack thereof, why don't we just agree to disagree and we'll tolerate your lack of faith if you'll tolerate our belief in the Almighty? Sounds fair and reasonable to me. Best wishes, Jeff P.S. Fred, regardless of your religious views, I still have great respect for your wealth of sailing knowledge and look forward to your future postings.

Jeff, you have two postings that are kinda the

same but are not the same. Did you mean to do that? As far as this topic is concerned, we all need to move on. But don't accuse me of not having faith. I have a huge amount of faith in my fellow sailor, much of man kind, evolution, science and reality. :) P.S. never mind, one is gone.

Yep Fred, my bad....

My mistake. I thought I had somehow managed to not post the first one properly so I wrote it, or something close, a second time. When I realized the first one actually did post, I went back and deleted the second one. And you're right, let us move on to brighter beaches. Later, Jeff
