Looking for information on the little red sailboat I just purchased. She is 15.5' in length, has both a main and jib, was laid up using a chopper gun, and used foam stringer construction. My guess would be 1960s construction. Thanks, Steve

looks like an old 470
very popular olympic class racing dinghy. Look for a number or other designation imbedded in the hull towards the rear. How much did you pay...why didn't the seller know what it was. If it is a 470 you'll be able to find parts at a performance racing shop such as San Diego sailing supply or Annapolis Performance Sailing http://www.apsltd.com Daggerboard and rudder are expensive to replace. Does T6 Mean Anything
Good evening all and thanks for you solution. Looking again at the mainsail there is indeed "470" which I'd originally thought was the production series number. There is also T6 printed on the sail and was wondering if that meant anything? I again looked at the transom and where one would expect a manufacturer and serial number and there the fiberglass is glossy, as if someone had removed a sticker with that information. My second questions is it common for all manufacturers to apply the ID information using a sticker or permanently etched in the transom? Steve

squat sit that low any more, but it looks like fun. Are thoes cut outs in the transom supose to be there? Looks like a wet ride if they are.

Registration issues?
If you do not have any Hull ID info, mfgr, etc.. how can you register your boat. Won't you need some info to get it legal to get it into the water? PA required me to register my Kyaks of all things so I can launch from the boat launches run by the pa dept. of fish and wildlife. Money, money, money...

Void Inspection Ports
Good evening all. Yes we bored two holes on each side to look into the voids. The wonderful thing about fiberglass is almost anything is repairable and because the transom is so flimsy, we decided that would be the best place to peer inside, then repair. FYI...some of the deck hardware is missing and everything will need backing and rebedding. I suspect we'll be cutting more holes before she's back in the water. Registration...We're expecting a package from the previous owner and hopefully the old registration paperwork is included. At least we have the trailer ID information. Again, thanks everyone for you inputs. Steve
