My boat is leaking

We purchased an O'Day 192 last fall and sailed her a few times before winter set in. We launched her last week, took her for one sail, and everything seemed fine. Today, we took her out sailing, stopped at a pier an hour later, and noticed that she had a lot of water in the bilge.
We finished our sail, hoisted her up, and the water is now slowly leaking out the drain hole in the stern of the boat. We can't figure out how the water is coming into the boat.
The drain hole does not have a plug. Is there supposed to be a stop that prevents water from going into the hole? Where else should we look for water to be entering the boat?
Thanks.

The 222 and I assume the 192 have the cockpit drain connected to the drain hole at the back of the boat. A hose connect the two parts. You should be able to get to it through the port locker. Give it a look and see if a clamp has failed or the hose.

Critical repair here. If water level coming in exceeds the height of the bulkhead in that rear bilge the boat will fill and sink. You can get a auto hose and clamps from what I understand and make the repair. Could be tough to get to. May need to put in an access port at rear of cockpit. That drain hose keeps me up at night. Do it right.

You can buy a plug for that drain at walmart if needed. Measure first.

We tried to remove the drain hose by cutting it, but we found that it's shields flex with metal wire wrapped into it. Now, we're stuck because we can't remove it, and we've ruined it. Any suggestions on how to get this out?

Dremel tool with metal cutting blade. Just did this to a wire spiral hose on my 25. Cutting the rubber stinks but it is quick going.

I had the same problem. I ended up buying a 9" deck plate & cut a suitable hole in the cockpit sole w/ a saber saw. after removing a piece of foam, I saw that the hose was rotted out. I was able to pull the hose off the cockpit fitting but I had to remove the fitting from the hull. This I did by cutting the mushroom flush at the stern & driving the body into the bilge & tossed the whole thing. Iwas able to buy a length of hefty bendable hose from a local marina & the fitting from west Marine. New clamps glueed the fitting in. Problem solved.

Thanks for the repair info. We also figured out that the drain hose is leaking. Access is nearly impossible unless you cut through the fiberglass, so we will wait until the boat is out in the fall. The boat is on a lift when not sailing, so we put a plug in the transom hole while sailing. We pull the plug and use a bilge pump to drain out rain water when it's on the lift. Now the motor mount board has rotted out, so we're repairing that. Always something!

Cutting out the cockpit sole & installing a deck plate makes it easy. The plate will be uder the tiller & so will not interfere with anything
