Muffler

Did the C27 with the Atomic 4 originally come with a water muffler? I have seen the Atomic 4 that way on a Pearson, but my boat doesn't have one. Is this unusual?

No Muffler

They did not have a muffler. My 1982 C-27 exhaust plugged up last year, and I had a VETUS installed. I am told that a water muffler will help prevent exhaust system plugging.Phil DeckerS/V Catmandu

West Marine and others

VETUS is like an AquaLift muffler. VETUS calls theirs a "waterlock". Below is a link to the West Marine catalog page that shows what looks like what is in my boat. I don't know where my boat yard got theirs. You can find out more at www.vetus.com.So far, it's worked well for me, and the engine noise is quieter.Phil DeckerS/V Catmandu
