Can anyone tell us if the muffler for an M-25 is just an open box inside ... the muffler is full of water and I totally removed the petcock and nothing comes out ... I poked a screwdriver in and it fetches up solid just inside the opening ... Im thinking the inside was covered over from the get go in 1984 and I need to drill it out.

PERK... Can you explain this a little more. I'm confused, although it doesn't take that much to confuse me!! Here is a general pic of a waterlift muffler. The one on the C30 may be rectangular though, not cylindrical as shown here.

essentially our /84 hull # 3698 muffler is the same thing except its about 15"x10" square ... I quess my real question is if it would be safe for me to drill directly through the petcock to clear the obstruction that appears to be blocking off the drain ... interestingly enough I replaced the petcock itself a few years ago because nothing ever came out and I though the petcock must be bad ... now I have encountered a hydro-lock due to a stuck syphon vent and of coarse found a full muffler along with other educational issues..
Thank you Jersey guy for your reply

Thanks Stu ... so what do you think , would I be safe to drill through the petcock hole to open the drain ...
After 22 years with this boat there is always something new to learn ... I love the way it sails , my crew loves the interior ... it's still the best value out there and really not that difficult to maintain ...

Examine the petcock carefully. It's a screw into fiberglass. Be careful, you shold be able to do it.

Also clear the anti-siphon to your raw water.

thanks Stu ... will keep you posted ..
I wonder how many people know that they will need crowsfoot round end 17mm and 19mm wrenches to work the nuts to injector tubes on top of the diesel fuel pump on a Universal M25 ...I have not seen this in any post ... bought a set on Amizon $ 64.99 delivered ..

Drilled through petcock hole and hit a membrane about 1" in but had to go about 3-1/2"through another membrane before water came out ..
Now getting the engine to start is another problem ... seems to be clear fuel at the top of injectors ( also had them cleaned and calibrated ) ...
Checked glow plugs and amps at the starter ,bought the highest cold crank battery , even tried ether ... this engine has always been hard to turn over..
Any and all suggestions gratefully appreciated ..
