An article describing a new Cat27 rudder design was published in the Aug2001 Catalina Mainsheet magazine. The rudder, designed by John Booth, was designed to reduce the inbred heavy helm characteristics when wind picks up over 15 knots.I would like to know if anyone is cruising/racing with this new rudder and would like to get comments on how the boat performs (upwind and down).bob

Great rudder

Hi Bob,Our Cat 27 came with the Booth rudder, so its all I know. The Prev owner said the improvement was worth the switch. Most of the C27 owners I have talked to in BC have removed the barn door in favour of the Booth. Our boat sails great, has very little weather helm, and she backs up straight as an arrow as well.Mark
