Hunter 37.5 Bainbridge Island - West of Seattle
I was reading that someone was talking about dock rates in Florida and other places, and some places are cheaper than others. So I thought it may be interesting to see what different people are paying around the country. I guess we probably should not state the name of the specific marina. Just the general area will do. Phil can let us know if this is ok or not. My slip on Bainbridge Island, Washington, works out to be around $9.20 per foot per month, but electrical power is additional, and we do have a secured gate with card access.

Dare anyone to beat this.... Santa Barbara

slips are public, but the permit for the slips are not. If you are lucky, and one comes up for sale you can expect to bid over $150k for that permit for a 40ft slip. Remember, you don't own the slip.... just the permit to use the slip.. Now you still have to pay your monthly slip fees on top of that to the city.... oh, the city can revoke your permit if your not a good boy... abe

slip cost are for the season ( April 1 thru Nov 1 ) Most are rented by size of the slip not boat size,so a 30 foot slip(will take up to a 34 foot boat) is appx $3600 a 40 foot skip(will take up to a 48 foot boat) is appx $4800 at least at our marina. Electric and water are included, not gated or security people but still a very safe and secure marina. pricing will be slightly differet at other marinas. Winter storage is on top of the slip fee at appx 30 dollars a foot plus blocking charges ($100 to $200 depending on size) plus some other small fees. All in all a 33 foot sailboat with summer and winter storage(mast down-yard requirement) total cost is around $4900 if I prepay the charges in advance. (10% discount)

- - Sandusky Harbor Marina, Lake Erie
Sandusky, Ohio ~ $6.20/ft/yr

That is for the year. Typically May to October at the slip, and the other months on the hard, plus the transfer of the boat in and out of the water without any additional services. David Lady Lillie

Boat size doesn't matter. My 14x40 slip costs $1920 per year. That includes water and 30 amp electricity but it is extra if you want to run the air conditioning at the slip. The boat stays in the water year-round. It is gated and security is good. I am on Lake Oologah but other lakes have similar pricing.

Mooring Bouy

A mooring is cheaper, however you do loose the convienience of easy boarding, AC and water. Mooring fee in Boothbay, ME is $20 per year. We are required to have our mooring inspected at least every two years ($80).

Seasonal in New England

I would estimate that the average (seasonal) rate in New England for a slip is about $100/ft (May thru October). This may include power.

We sail all year, so-

Here in San Diego, my slip rent is $561 per mo. + power so we're looking at over $6700/yr. Rates just went up again, and again, and again. URRRRRGH!

$750.00 a month

Just move from a 33' (county run) slip in Dana Point, CA @ $557.00 a month including electricity and water to a 36' slip in Newport Beach for only $750.00 a month (electricity and water included).

Henry

Port St. Joe, FL

Here I pay about $1,900 per year for my slip. Ok, it's just a T-dock with water but no electric. The better slips cost about $7.50 per foot per month and if paid by the year you get a 10% discount. This includes electricity and water but add sales taxes. Mexico Beach it costs $175/month with no electricity or $195/month with. If paid for a year, you pay 11 months and get one free. Mexico Beach is a problem with their canal being closed due to imclement weather and the inability to get out. That is why we moved to PSJ.

Slip Fees

I'm paying about $2,350 per year for a 30-ft slip at Herrington Harbour, a mid-Chesapeake Bay location about 20 miles south of Annapolis. It costs an additional $600 or so for a haul out, powerwash, and four months on the hard over the winter if you so choose.

san francisco bay, ca

I pay $200/month for a 28 ft slip (utilities inc) and the price varies on depending on the size of the slip, up $500/month for a 50 ft slip. Nice marina though, concrete docks, 24 hr security, and a very friendly and helpful staff. chris Drifter II

Abe, where I am moored,

you have to buy a house to get a slip. Not an exact comparison to yours - but... $200k inland and up to $1.5m or more for waterfront. The slip is just over $1k per year for 63 ft plus a few bucks per month for electricity. There is another ~$1k for condo fees and property taxes of course. We have warm water in summer, locked gates, security patrols (hourly), a golf course and condo rules (some good / some not). We are a two hour reach (usually) to Echo Bay or a little more to anywhere in the San Juans. We go to Sucia for lunch and get back home for dinner.

Lake Lanier GA

We pay just over $3700 for a year round slip. Water, electric, and a dock box are included. In comparison, pretty pricy for an inland lake. John
