Well I got the bottom of the boat sanded ready for new paint except ran into a few a problems. Now I am asking this because I am over budget on the boat currently out of work and getting paints epoxies is all but impossible where I am at and very expensive. Cost over $80 to get 2 gallons of bottom paint to me. I only found 2 willing to even think about shipping it to me. One place from somewhere back east tried, it made it to Chicago and then was sent back to sender. I have a feeling the other place sent it illegally but at least I got it.
Well back to my question So I sanded through the gel coat in a few areas and have 2 gouges from a rock that jumped out in front of me last year. And I have 2 areas under each front bunk that looked likes maybe had rocks between the boat and the bunks. Each side has about a quarter size hole and one side an additional few dime size holes and areas that look like someone beat on it with a ball-peen hammer.
Now I know I should fill everything with epoxy and then barrier paint the whole bottom. But I already have 3m Marine polyester filler for above and below water line. So I want to use that and and just buy a half gallon of barrier paint to paint over these problem areas. and then anti fouling ablative. So in all your opinions will this suffice for a year or two?
Not planing on leaving it in the water this year. Will put it in and take it out each use. To many scratches from the harbor people moving it around and having to find it every time I went down there. and have to climb across 3 or 4 other boats to get to mine. oh sorry blowing steam. Well so opinions please thanks in advance our snow almost gone and wish it was in the water already Greg
