Real sailing lakes
There are only a few 'real' sailing lakes in Manitoba, (ie where there is marina support). In western Manitoba there is Pelican Lake. Clear Lake in Riding mountain has a harbour but no marina or yacht club with facilities. In central other parts of the province, Lake Winnipeg, I think is the only other option which has marinas located on its shores. I think there are only three marine suppliers in the province, Bowline Yachts, Northern Sail, and Cargo East Marine supply, all located in or near Winnipeg. Eastern Manitoba has West Hawk lake, but I am not familiar with any marina there, although I am sure that there are some.My son is moving to Lethbridge this fall, so on future trips, I'll have to take the longer route through Calgary to hit that marine supply store in Cochrane. As for the best deal around for storage, it is likely where we have our cottage at Clear Lake. There is a boat compound there, and there is no storage fee whatsoever. (Of course, there are no facilities either, and no free slips.) For the use of the compound, they don't even check to see if you are a local resident. There is a park entry fee however, as it is a national park. (Now that I have said that, I have likely jinxed it for myself!)Attached is another picture of the marina at Pelican Lake.
