I agree with Stu about the curved handrail, it is what allows me to switch off behind the wheel and not loose my footing. I have seen what he describes but had not thought about it....
Yes, think about what you do alot first, a folding wheel is expensive and getting the right size is important. There is a certain spot on ours that if the port lazerette is opened the wheel and the lid rub and one of them does not work until things get adjusted! Not a big deal but it tells you how close our fit was. When not sailing it is out of the way completely and the leather on the wheel is very nice and comfortable.. another expense if you get a standard wheel and want it covered. Size matters, we have friends that have such a big wheel I can't get used to it, I don't feel I steer very well on their boat. Our larger wheel helped me quite a bit..must be a ratio thing (I am not oriented that way so I am steering clear of this part of the conversation) I just know I like it alot.
If we were starting over now, the Folding Wheel would have been the first thing we changed instead of the 10th! We love it that much.
