Don't have to pull mast
The car is available from Isomat. The track does not go all the way to the bottom of the Isomat mast. Remove the stopper screw and car slips right on. Make sure you get the proper nylon glide inserts that fit your mast track. They come in two sizes depending on the mast track dimensions I added the car to my 85 31' works great. An advantage of the car is you just pull it up to store the pole vertically on the mast. I find it very easy to set up and take down the pole single handed while under sail so I use the pole quite a bit, really helps running with the B&R rig. In addition, the car height can be adjusted to match the clew height depending on whether I am flying the genny, the jib or the asymmetrical spinnaker. Because the pole never leaves the mast it can' go overboard; you won't turn your new pole into a liquid investment. If you go this route plan to spend some money. I think the car was about $165 and you will need to throw in about $100 for car control rigging. You will need to add to the mast: two small cheek blocks, two small cam cleats, and two small pad eyes to terminate the car control line. Two small blocks are needed for the car and some line to control the car. During vertical storage the outboard end of pole is held at the base of the mast by snapping it into a small “ bail”. I used a short piece of stainless rigging wire with crimped eyes to form the bail. It attaches to the mast base with small shackles. Bill EblingYesterday's Dream1985 H31Crab Alley BayKent Island MD
